Junior strong safety Emanuel Cook has been declared academically ineligible for South Carolina's upcoming bowl game against Iowa, according to USC football coach Steve Spurrier.

"Right now, it appears that Emanuel Cook didn't make it," Spurrier said. "He's the only one right now that it appears did not pass the six hours.

"As we know right now, he will not play in the game."

The Riviera Beach, Fla. native started all 12 games for the Gamecocks this season and led the team in tackles with 87.
