Sexually speaking, Carolina is nearly fit as a fiddle.

USC is No. 11 in a new study that ranks 100 U.S. colleges and universities' sexual health. The Trojan Sexual Health Report Card is based on categories such as the availability of condoms on campus, outreach programs and informational Web sites.

Let's keep it up. Despite the study being conducted by a condom company, this is something to be proud of.

The folks at the Thomson Student Health Center and USC's Office for Sexual Health and Violence Prevention deserve thanks for looking out for thousands of horny undergraduates. They provide contraceptives for students with foresight and STI testing for those without. During HIV Awareness Week, screening for the virus is free.

Carolina should be proud, as only 7.4 percent of Southeast schools scored a 3.0 or more on a 4.0 scale - the lowest percentage out of the four regions examined. In a bit of poetic justice, Clemson stumbled into the rankings at No. 95. Apparently, cows are not a safe alternative to abstinence.

USC is helping present the shaky image of a new South: forward thinking, logical - and willing to confront problems that were too scandalous to discuss 50 years ago. The sexual revolution has come and gone, and schools such as Notre Dame and Brigham Young, who received straight F's in the report card, must play catch up.

Students and staff participate in Sexual Health Awareness Week, Sexual Responsibility Week and World AIDS Day every year, and with advertising campaigns visible from space, students don't have an excuse not to take advantage of Carolina's pristine sexual health standing.

It's not a No. 11 football ranking, but this is one list USC should always struggle to be part of.
