For USC students, Playboy models actually are the girls next door.

Third-year exercise science student Jayme Knightly and third-year psychology student Brooke Taylor, who appeared in the "Girls of the SEC" pictorial in the October edition of Playboy magazine, appeared at an autograph session at Capitol City Newsstand on Main Street in Columbia Friday afternoon.

Knightly tried out for the photo shoot after seeing an ad in the paper on her birthday. After a callback the same week, she posed by herself for the magazine.

The process was just as sudden for Taylor, who also responded to the ad. After applying online and setting

an audition, she found herself in front of the camera.

"And now I'm in the magazine," Taylor said.

"Everyone was wonderful," Knightly said. Photographer David Rams and his staff made sure everyone was comfortable at the photo shoot, she said.

While neither expects widespread fame and recognition, an appearance in Playboy doesn't go unnoticed.

Taylor, a Virginia native, has gotten a mixed reaction from her friends and family.

"My parents still don't know, but if they find out, they find out," she said.

The second youngest of seven children, Taylor did find support from her brothers and sisters.

"My older brothers are concerned because I'm their baby sister. Though if it had been one of my friends, they'd think it was awesome," she said.

Knightly didn't tell anyone about posing for Playboy until she knew her picture would make it in the magazine, but since she has, she said the reaction has been overwhelmingly positive.

"I'm surprised by how comfortable everyone's been," she said. "My mom was just in here and she thinks it's awesome."

Though Taylor had modeled before, neither of the two girls plan on making modeling a career. Knightly plans on going to medical school, but said if an opportunity to model again came up, "I wouldn't say no."

"I would love to continue, but if it ends at this, it ends at this," said Taylor, who plans on becoming a social worker or a school counselor.

Neither Taylor nor Knightly regrets posing for the magazine and both will remember the experience fondly.

"It's been amazing," Taylor said. "It's the coolest thing I've ever done."

"No woman can be in Playboy and not be proud," Knightly said. "Being able to represent your school is awesome."

These are students of USC - don't think this is going to help the image of the school as a serious institution of higher learning. Ladies, taking your clothes off for men isn't something to be proud of. Being intelligent and doing something for the greater good is an accomplishment. Anyone can take their clothes off.

Could the editors please attach some photos to go with this article too? All the other ones have them, and I feel like the photographs would be an excellent addition to this article.

Wow! All the adults in there that push their ways as the only ones correct for society. Thankfully we have the freedom to choice what we want to do as individuals. I wonder what dark shadows are in your pasts as well... hmm?? Get a life.

Nothing wrong with taking your clothes off. If men pleasure themselves to you, take it as a compliment... Yes pictures would be great for the article as well.

Wow...all these posters are so bothered by naked people...they're naked! Nudity does not lead to the end of the world...you all are idiots, let them express themselves

You girls should be VERY PROUD of yourselves! Providing a service for "Classless men" because you are "Classless Women". Bravo! I am so proud you represent my students school. Where is your common sense?

I would like to ask Jayme Knightly why the photographers would feel the need to make her "comfortable". Is there something 'instinctively' uncomfortable about the degradation that comes with stripping down in front of the public, and exposing yourself as a person with no respect? She should be fine with that. She did it didn't she. Brooke, I am sorry that your Mom thinks so little of you. Please tell me where you both will be practicing your chosen professions as I would not want my daughters to have either of you as a doctor or counselor. I plan to teach them to command respect for themselves and believe that they are far too special to fall for anything like this. Physically beautiful women have much more than pornography to offer the world. I hope things turn around for both of you and you can one day realize a much higher calling.

"No woman can be in Playboy and not be proud" ? Wow. Okay... How about being proud that you didn't take off all your clothes for millions of classless men to stare at you while they pleasure themselves?
