The Daily Gamecock

The staff of The Daily Gamecock is planning a weekend of events to commemorate the 100th birthday of the paper. Tentative schedule of events:

• 10 to 11 a.m. - Stop by the newsroom to meet current Daily Gamecock staffers


• 11 to 11:30 a.m. - panel of alumni will discuss topics of interest with current staffers.


• You are also invited to participate in Campus Tours throughout the day, or watch the Gamecocks in action as the Men's Baseball team takes on East Carolina at 1:30 p.m. or the Men's Basketball team plays Mississippi State at 4 p.m.
• 7 p.m. - Sit-down dinner at historic Clarion Hotel in downtown Columbia to include presentation on the history of the paper, guest speaker and dancing to follow.

Approximate cost of the dinner is $50 a plate, with all proceeds going directly to The Daily Gamecock endowment fund.
