Ask Dailey

Dear Dailey,

I’m failing my French class. I don’t know what I’m going to do. I’ve never failed anything before. What should I do?

— Failing Fanny

Dear Fanny

Ah, the middle of the semester. The time of late-night anxiety attacks and considering dropping out to take any job you can find. Everyone's running around, pulling their hair out and guzzling coffee, trying to keep in stride.

Stop. Take a deep breath. Drink some water. Everyone slips from time to time. You aren't stupid and you shouldn't give up. Go talk to your professor. They don't want you to fail, and they really will help you if you ask for it. Get together with classmates and study. Make an ACE appointment and consider all your options. People have done this before, and you are more than capable. Keep your head up.

Dear Dailey,

All I wear are free T-shirts and running shorts. How can I expand my style and not give up comfort?

— Bum Becky

Dear Becky,

Your style should say something about you, and it is my personal belief that T-shirts are the perfect billboards for your personality. Band T-shirts, superhero T-shirts, graphic T-shirts and even organization T-shirts take what’s going on in your head and stick it on your chest. Throw on some leggings, some shorts, some jeans or even a nice skirt and a necklace and rock it. Comfy and stylish, go you.

Dear Dailey,

Not only is my roommate loud in the morning, he keeps hooking up with his girlfriend in his room and everyone in our apartment can hear it. Me and my roommates.

— Awkward Andy

Dear Andy,

Say it with me: Use. Your. Words. If you don’t tell him what you're experiencing, he's never going to know. He probably thinks everything is fine. I’m sure he doesn’t want you to hear his intimate activities any more than you want to. The important thing is that you approach the situation delicately and don’t make him feel attacked or ridiculed. Be kind and respectful, and he should have no problem making adjustments.
