Gamecocks fight off elimination with victory over Dartmouth

South Carolina advanced to the second elimination game of the Tallahassee Regional with a 3-1 win over Dartmouth Saturday at JoAnne Garf Field. The Gamecocks came out focused in the first-inning, scoring two on a double by sophomore Victoria Williams and a single by sophomore Kaylea Snear. The lead grew to 3-0 in the second after Williams drilled an RBI single and allowed Alaynie Paige to come home. Strong offense and pitching were the keys for the Gamecocks as they improved to 38-21. Junior Ansley Ard and Williams both tallied hits for the Gamecocks, with Williams supplying a double for the offense. Freshman Tiara Duffy and Paige also combined for a pair of doubles.

Surrat coasts in complete game win

Gamecock pitching was firing on all cylinders as redshirt senior Julie Surratt controlled the game. She allowed only five hits and one run in the complete game win. Surratt struck out two and walked one during her 111 pitch outing. She improved to 18-12 on the season.

Gamecocks continue domination of Ivy League

The Gamecocks improved to 15-0 all-time against Ivy League schools, getting their first win over Dartmouth. Dartmouth began a rally in the sixth, with a trio of singles, the third of which scored Katie McEachern from third. The Big Green's big push was a little too late as they left two players on base after the run. McEachern went 2-for-4 for the Big Green, supplying two of their five hits.
