Summit family announces decline in legendary coach's health

The family of Pat Summit released a statement Sunday announcing that her health is on the decline, ESPN reports. The pioneering Tennessee women's basketball coach, who suffers from early onset dementia, Alzheimer's type, is surrounded by family, according to the statement. The family asked for prayers, and the hashtag #PrayforPat quickly spread on social media. South Carolina women's basketball coach Dawn Staley and former football coach Steve Spurrier were two of the many prominent members of the SEC family to spread good will.

Coastal Carolina advances to CWS finals

Coastal Carolina will play for the university's first Division I national championship this week, The State reports. The team advanced to the College World Series championship with a win over TCU on Saturday. They will face off against Arizona in the best-of-3 championship series. This is the Chanticleers' first trip to Omaha.

CPD investigating suspicious death

Columbia Police are looking for a female as part of an investigation into the death of another Columbia woman. The person of interest, Tameka Randal, is thought to have information on a shooting that resulted in the death of a 26-year-old. The death was ruled suspicious after police responded to a report of shots fired Saturday night.
