McWilliams to leave program

South Carolina senior defensive back Rico McWilliams will leave the program, after returning to practice last week. He had taken a leave of absence for a week of practice to tend to family matters in his hometown of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, which experienced historic flooding.

McWilliams was present at the team's photo day on Aug. 21 and returned to the following practice. He had been getting back into the swing of things, but left the team for good on Saturday.

The senior had played in 33 games during his career in Columbia, making 18 starts for the Gamecocks. He was listed on the first team on the preseason depth chart, but had been primarily working with the second team throughout fall camp behind Rashad Fenton and Chris Lammons.
