Martin appointed to NABC Board

USC men's basketball coach Frank Martin was named to the National Association of Basketball Coaches board of directors on Wednesday, WLTX reports. Martin is one of five coaches named to the board to replace outgoing coaches. He is in his fifth year as head coach of the Gamecocks and previously served as head coach at Kansas State University.

South Carolina falls to fifth in ranking of men killing women

South Carolina no longer has the worst rate of men killing women in the U.S., The State reports. With 43 deaths, the Palmetto State is now ranked fifth behind Alaska, Louisiana, Nevada and Oklahoma. South Carolina had been No. 1 in the Violence Policy Center's rankings for almost a decade. Sixty-two percent of women killed by men in South Carolina were killed by current or former partners.

Charges dropped against Boyd

Former Clemson quarterback Tajh Boyd is no longer facing assault charges, WIS reports. Boyd was arrested earlier in September over an incident at a Greenville bar in July. He agreed to a plea deal Wednesday to serve community service and pay restitution in return for keeping the charge off his record.
