University of South Carolina President Harris Pastides won a IIE Global Changemaker Award on Thursday.
The award, in its first year, recognizes former Fulbright scholars whose "accomplishments are a fitting tribute to the impact and innovation of the Fulbright Program’s first 70 years," according to IIE president and CEO Allan E. Goodman in a press release.
Pastides was a Fulbright scholar in the late 1980s during his time as a senior research fellow at the University of Athens Medical School.
He was one of seven Fulbright alumni to take home the award this year.
