Charter school teacher arrested for sex with student

A former educator at a West Columbia charter school turned himself in for having sex with a student, WIS reports. The former teacher at Gray Collegiate Academy allegedly engaged in sexual relations with a student at a home in 2015, but he didn't turn himself in until Thursday. He faces a charge of sexual battery with a student without aggravted force or coercion.

Friday crash victim identified

The driver killed in a multi-car accident on Interstate-20 has been identified, WLTX reports. Mary Frances Young, 58, died around 6 a.m. Friday when she was involved in a three car crash. The other two drivers weren't injured, and the South Carolina Highway Patrol is still investigating the crash.

Man from incident with local news crew appears in court

The man who allegedly called a Charlotte news anchor racial slurs on the streets of Charleston apologized in court, The Post and Courier reports. Police found a crack pipe on him and charged him with possesion of drug paraphenalia as well as congregating for an unlawful purpose. The reporter, who was in Charleston to report on Hurricane Matthew, said he accepts the apology.
