South Carolina to face South Florida in Birmingham Bowl

After compiling six wins and qualifying for bowl game eligibility, South Carolina has officially accepted the opportunity to play in the Birmingham Bowl on Dec. 29. Opposing the Gamecocks will be the South Florida Bulls of the American Athletic Conference.

The Bulls went 10-2 on the season and were ranked No. 25 in the AP Poll.

"South Florida is a really good football team," said South Carolina head coach Will Muschamp. "Willie Taggart is a guy I have a lot of respect for."

The Bulls are equipped with the No. 7 scoring offense in the FBS, averaging 43.6 points per game.

"It's a testament to Coach Muschamp, his staff and the players for getting us back into the postseason," said Athletics Director Ray Tanner.

The Gamecocks have won their last four bowl games, with their most recent victory coming over Miami in the 2014 Independence Bowl. This will mark Will Muschamp's first bowl appearance with the program, although he reached two during his tenure at Florida.

Kickoff is scheduled for 2:00 p.m.
