Brief: SG cabinet meeting addresses Dance Marathon, school-wide March Madness bracket, suicide prevention walk

This week's Student Government cabinet meeting, held just before the 2018 executive candidates' debate, heard from Student Body President Ross Lordo's cabinet on upcoming events at the university and plans for SG initiatives.

  • College Panhellenic Association President Caroline Spadaro spoke to the cabinet about USC Dance Marathon, which has its main event next weekend on March 3. USC's Dance Marathon goal this year is to raise $1 million in hopes to contribute to building the Dance Marathon at University of South Carolina playground.
  • The Athletics Committee is working on a school-wide March Madness bracket initiative with prizes for the winners of the competition, deputy of athletics Anthony Tremmel said. The committee intends to create both men's and women's brackets and hopes to have signed jerseys for the winners.
  • The Out of the Darkness Campus Walk for suicide prevention will take place March 25, according to Katie Cohen, secretary of health and wellness. This event will be lead by the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention in hopes to gain support and raise awareness.
