USC's annual Dance Marathon celebrated its 10th birthday last Friday at Strom Thurmond Fitness and Wellness Center as USC students danced for 24 hours.

Michelle Shorter, a fourth-year public relations student who worked as the Dance Marathon commitee's media relations, said she estimates around 900 people came to dance.

Dance Marathon raised $110,899.15 for the Palmetto Health Children's Hospital, Shorter said.

Ryan Wade, a third-year psychology student and overall director for the event, said the total number of registered dancers exceeded all past totals by over 300 people.

Emily Austin, a third-year advertising student, said she served as a morale captain.

"I think it all went great, everyone was so excited and the morale captains did a great job too," Austin said.
