USC fills two football coaching vacancies

South Carolina coach Steve Spurrier filled two coaching vacancies for the Gamecocks, hiring Joe Robinson as the special teams coordinator and tight ends coach and Kirk Botkin as the linebackers coach, USC announced today.

USC defensive end Devin Taylor announced that he plans to return for his senior season today, just before USC confirmed the departure of cornerback Stephon Gilmore.

USC commit Shaq Roland said he has decided not to get surgery on his left shoulder.

The morning after the Capital One Bowl

ORLANDO, Fla.—You may not have heard, but there was a football game last night, and it was pretty important to a lot of Gamecocks.

On the last day of 2011, offensive and defensive coaches and players from both South Carolina and Nebraska met with the media to talk Capital One Bowl.

With two new teams added to the SEC, the 2012 conference football schedule was released today at 10 a.m.

Upon arriving in Orlando, Fla. for the Capital One Bowl, USC coach Steve Spurrier named Lorenzo Ward the full-time defensive coordinator.

South Carolina Compliance Director Judy Van Horn confirmed that the university is aware of and looking into a poster with Jadeveon Clowney and C.C. Whitlock promoting an event at Club Cascade in Rock Hill, SC.

A lot of news has come out about the football team the past couple days, starting with the departure of associate head coach for defense Ellis Johnson.
