Lindsay Webb named Carolina's No. 1 fan

With over 5,000 votes, Lindsay Webb, a third-year advertising student, was selected from five video contestants to be Carolina’s No. 1 fan for this year's Homecoming.

A Virginia native, Webb admits that USC wasn’t her first choice even though her mom, aunt and uncle are all USC alumni. After deciding to come to Columbia, Webb has gotten into the school spirit.

She heard about the contest last year and wished she had participated, so  when the time came to enter this year, she decided to give it a shot.

Former USC quarterback Connor Shaw and his daughter, Mila Marie, are featured in Webb's winning video. Webb made signs in for Shaw last year for home games and would run into him on campus, so when she asked him to participate, he agreed.

Webb said she didn’t have to spend a lot of time making the video because she brings her GoPro camera to football games — she had recorded most of the material beforehand.

For Webb, it wasn't just the tailgating package she won that made her feel like a winner. Bragging rights were really the prize she wanted, she said.

Her mom came down from Virginia for the game against Furman and surprised Webb at the Homecoming parade. She said she was excited to have her mom here, especially since she helped her daughter win by getting friends to vote.

Webb is also a member of the Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority, and last year she was on the morale team for Dance Marathon, which she hopes to be involved with again come spring.

It was her moment to shine, but Webb said she doesn’t think she would have won without the help of her sorority sisters, friends and family who shared her message and voted.
