The South Carolina women's soccer team had a scoreless opening half against Kentucky. In the opening minutes of the second half, freshman forward Catherine Barry scored the lone goal off a set piece. This 1-0 win means the Gamecocks (2-1, 2-1 SEC) have not lost to the Wildcats (0-3, 0-3 SEC) since 2014.

The University of South Carolina football program, led by head coach Will Muschamp, decided to cancel all football operations for Monday, Aug. 31 to focus its efforts on an on-campus demonstration for racial justice.
