This year, the Grammy nominees for Album of the Year include Jay-Z's "4:44," Kendrick Lamar's "DAMN." and Childish Gambino's "'Awaken, My Love!'". The fact that artists of color make up most of the nominees for album of the year is incredible. This is really important, considering the racial controversies that have occurred throughout 2017.

Sadly, it's no news that there have been sexual assault accusations made in Hollywood, politics and pop culture in general. It seems like every day we wake up and read the news only to find that a beloved figure has been accused of a crime such as rape, assault or groping.

Award-winning novelist Lydia Millet will be the third and final guest author at USC’s Fall Literary Festival, which will be held Thursday from 6-8 p.m. The festival gives writers the opportunity to showcase their work, hold book signings and let students ask questions.

The Native American Film Festival of the Southeast made its debut effort in 1997 to educate the public about the different issues indigenous people face daily. Twenty years later, the festival still comes to Columbia; this year's will be held from Nov. 5 through Nov. 14, coinciding with Native American Heritage Month.
