The lack of parking at USC has been a common student complaint. Because space is at a premium now on campus, creating new parking requires the repurposing of other spaces and costly building materials. One partial solution that should be discussed is creating restrictions for freshmen to park on campus.

Making friends in your classes can be a rewarding experience, and it only takes a little effort from you to get the conversation started. Though many students decide to brave the slog of challenging course material on their own, taking the time to make friends in a class can make learning the material and studying for the tests a little more bearable.

Professors often seem to wonder, “Why do students not take my assignments (or readings or lectures) seriously?” The answer is that students have no evidence that professors care for the limited nature of their time any more than professors know if students care to actually spend the time learning the course material.

There is a very fine line in our world today between staying true to our own identities and respecting those of other people. In our culture, we have many groups that shout at the rest of the world that they deserve respect, and they do. The problem is finding a way to live out your identity steadfastly while allowing other individuals the same.

As college students, we are often swamped with social theories, or principles about how humans behave in a set of given circumstances, but we must remember the people described in these theories are not static concepts, but real individuals with varied behaviors.

Internships are critical to a student's college experience. They give the opportunity to learn more about the daily assignments and responsibilities of a career and help students learn skills that are hard to teach in a classroom setting. The thing is, internships are time consuming and limit the opportunities one can pursue outside the internship at the same time. Because of that opportunity cost, or what you have to give up to participate in a given activity, more internships should be compensated.

When some people hear the term “science fiction,” they immediately think of the stereotypical Star Trek geek with thick glasses and a nasally voice. The thing is, science fiction can be so much more. It can be an important window into what we want or don’t want in our futures.
