The SEC has taken notice, and it was announced Tuesday that the 6-foot-5 sophomore would be named SEC Co-Player of the Week for the second time this season.

Fresh off a 92-76 win against Lipscomb on Friday, the South Carolina men’s basketball team hosted Western Carolina on Monday looking for an easy win. The Gamecocks were looking for good games from SEC Player of the Week Mindaugas Kacinas and freshman sensation P.J. Dozier to dispatch the Catamounts, but ended up relying on a host of players to complete the 76-53 victory.

The Tigers held advantages in all phases of the game and interim head coach Shawn Elliott and his players knew the Gamecocks would need a nearly flawless showing to have a chance in what ended up being a 37-32 Clemson victory.

The last time South Carolina hosted Clemson, the Gamecocks were 9-2, ranked 10th in the country and seeking their 17th-straight home victory under senior quarterback Connor Shaw and fifth-straight win over the Tigers. Clemson, on the other hand, was ranked sixth and seeking a shot at the National Championship.
