In 2022, South Carolina took home its first ‘Palmetto Bowl’ trophy since 2013 after the 31-30 upset against Clemson at Memorial Stadium on Nov. 26, 2022. However, the Gamecock-Tiger rivalry goes beyond football. In the past year, South Carolina has defeated Clemson across six sports in the Palmetto Series, including both men’s and women’s basketball, football, baseball and men’s tennis.

The Daily Gamecock surveyed 46 USC students to see how they celebrated Gamecock football's shocking home win against No. 5 Tennessee this past season. Multiple students said storming the field after the South Carolina's win was one of the major highlights of their college experience.

The University of South Carolina Gamecocks and the University of Iowa Hawkeyes competed in one of the two semifinal games at the 2023 Women’s Final Four matchup at the American Airlines Center in Dallas, Texas, on March 31, 2023. The Gamecocks fought hard to continue its 42-game winning streak but ultimately fell to the Hawkeyes, led by junior guard Caitlin Clark, who scored 41 points.  

Multiple great TV shows premiered this school year, and four of them, "The Last of Us," "The White Lotus" season two, "House of the Dragon" and "1923," are especially worthy of a watch. 

The USC Department of Theatre and Dance produced five shows during the 2022-2023 season. These shows covered a range of genres, styles and themes that highlighted the versatility of the department and its students.
