A Carolina Alert crime bulletin was issued Tuesday evening related to a Columbia Police Department case.

CPD is currently searching for suspect Farris Kaloti, a 28-year-old white male, after he allegedly "[gave] a ride to female students/victims to places other than their desired destination and refusing to let them out of the vehicle."

According to the alert the suspect "is not affiliated" with USC, but it did acknowledge that the suspect "is reported to have been on and around campus."

Anyone who sees Kaloti on campus is asked to contact USCPD.

The alert follows a message that circulated among some students alleging that a man was posing as a rideshare driver in the Columbia area.

UPDATE: Columbia Police have released more information about the allegations. In a release, they say a 21 year old and 18 year old became uncomfortable after getting a ride from an "unknown male." A "brief struggle" ensued when they attempted to exit the car, and one of the women required treatment for "scrapes and bruises."
