Rolling out from a screen at the right elbow, Sindarius Thornwell received a pass at the top of the key from freshman guard Hassani Gravett, planting and shooting in one motion. With 1:25 in the first half, Thornwell sinks his fourth three-pointer of the night, giving South Carolina a commanding 42-25 lead over Auburn. There is a brief pause in the action for an official review, but the call stands. Lost in the offensive outburst is the fact Thornwell passed Carlos Powell for the No. 7 slot in South Carolina's all-time scoring leaders.

Author's Note: Sometimes it's hard to fully digest all of the storylines that come out of a game. In all the craziness that the final minutes can be, it's easy to forget some of the key moments that happened earlier on that shaped the game. When it was announced that second-leading scorer PJ Dozier would miss the Gamecocks' matchup with No. 5 Kentucky, it could be expected that it would be a struggle offensively for No. 24 South Carolina. Despite Sindarius Thornwell's career-high 34 points, the Gamecocks couldn't keep up with the Wildcats' potent scoring attack, failing to keep up in the 85-69 loss.

The college basketball rankings are wrong. Not just a little, not only slightly, but appallingly, outrageously wrong. For atop the college basketball world sit the wrong teams, while the deserving No.1 team erroneously is not even situated within the top three in the country.
