After an S.C. legislative proviso was analyzed by state Attorney General Alan Wilson to prohibit state colleges and universities from mandating mask wearing in their facilities, a recent S.C. Supreme Court ruling interpreted things in a different way. The S.C. Department of Revenue has denied renewing the liquor licenses of eleven out of the fifteen bars in the Five Points District. These small businesses, known to be hotspots for U of SC students, could potentially be at risk of shutting down if their licenses to sell liquor cannot be renewed in the near future.
