Babar is back

Before the gigantic circus elephants perform Thursday night in the opening of the Barnum & Bailey Circus’ annual stop here, they must depart from large carrying trains and make their way a few blocks to the Carolina Coliseum.

That route takes the multiton beasts directly through the Greek Village, and it creates quite the show for students, faculty and staff.

The great fanfaronade happened Monday afternoon, and there were plenty of people watching. Some students sat on blankets, while others peered through the windows of houses in the Greek Village. It has become a tradition for many who make sure to catch the parade every year.

If you missed it Monday, the circus will be in town from Thursday until Sunday. Tickets start at $16.
