Vanderbilt-Florida:
A same-conference championship series, whether between two SEC schools or a pair from the ACC, would not be in the best interest of growing the collegiate game. However, it would provide for some great drama as a national semifinal. Here's to hoping two of the SEC's three titans take care of business and meet in the second day winner's bracket, then again with a trip to the finals on the line.
South Carolina-Virginia:
A clash between the defending College World Series champs and the overall No. 1 national seed and odds-on favorite to win the whole thing provides ample clout. However, the mental toughness of both clubs — UVA's composure in its ninth inning rally to overcome a feisty UC-Irvine team and get to Omaha was nothing short of remarkable — would likely result in stirring theater. It would be a shame if TD Ameritrade Park doesn't get at least one Gamecock-Cavalier collision in its inaugural season.
South Carolina-North Carolina:
If this one happens, both teams are meeting in the three-game championship series. That's fine with us because this finals pairing is the juiciest of all the possibilities. Two border rivals with stellar programs and a common tie — USC associate head coach Chad Holbrook was an assistant at UNC — with either Carolina becoming the third team to repeat in the last 35 years or the Tar Heels finally winning it all after many near misses over the years.
