Health care cuts leave USC staff in cold without nearby cover

On-campus services for sick employees tragically unavailable

Health care has been a nationwide epidemic dominating politics for a while, but the reality of the issue became clear when the faculty and staff health care center, Primary Care Partners, left its campus location in July.

The center was funded by the College of Nursing and due to lack of funds, the college, unfortunately, can't sustain the beneficial program.

It's sad that other programs or departments in the university didn't step in to save the center. It's eye-opening to see an issue that dominates political debates on such a local scale.

When money is lost and budgets are cut, employee benefits and conveniences suffer.

So when October gets here and you catch your first cold of the season and sit in the lobby of the Student Health Center for what seems like hours, think about how convenient it is that you are to be a student, instead of an employee.
