Poor water quality shutters Cafe Verde

Facilities hopes to reopen eatery by today

Cafe Verde became Cafe Cerrado Thursday afternoon.

West (Green) Quad’s Carolina Dining eatery was shut down around 1 p.m. due to water quality issues.
Cynthia Steele, marketing manager for Carolina Dining, said late Thursday that USC wasn’t yet sure what caused the problem.

“We take it that it was something with the city pipes,” Steele said. “It did not affect anything, but with the quality of water we didn’t want to chance it.”

Steele said facilities was working with the city to fix the problem.

“It could be a broken main, but I can’t say that for sure,” Steele said.

Steele hopes the diner can open Friday.
