New NRA ad offensive, makes illogical claims

Slandering Obama not best way to present view

The National Rifle Association is at it again. With President Barack Obama’s new gun control measures being implemented around the nation, the NRA, as a last, desperate attempt to reach the masses, has created a new advertisement not only slamming Obama, but this time bringing his children into it as well.

The advertisement dubs the president an “elitist hypocrite” for allowing his children to be protected by security guards at their school while advocating for gun-free zones at other schools in America. This, claims the NRA, is obvious indication that the president is distributing security unequally, allowing his children to be more protected than the children of America.

What’s most striking about this ad isn’t even the sheer ridiculousness of the NRA in failing to accept that high-profile people, such as the leader of the entire nation, and their families not only bear significantly greater responsibilities than the average American, but are also subject to a greater amount of risk and danger. Or the fact that having armed forces to guard every ordinary student in America is utterly impractical and fiscally impossible. What’s most obscene is the NRA having the nerve to imply, especially so soon after the last devastating Sandy Hook shooting, that not making schools gun-free zones would make them safer places.

Obama is clearly doing everything he can to prevent these shootings from happening in the future while keeping children in the U.S. safe. If the NRA insists on continuing to deny facts, it should at least have the dignity to avoid illogical slander.
