Crime blotter: Week of May 26 — June 2

On May 29, an officer pulled over a car for overly tinted windows. When he approached the car and the driver rolled down the window, a large cloud of smoke that smelled like marijuana escaped the vehicle. The officer asked if the passengers of the car had any illegal substances on them twice before the passenger produced a pill bottle full of marijuana, totaling 8 grams. The driver and two passengers were charged with possession of drugs/narcotics.

A wallet was reported stolen from a Walmart parking lot on May 26. The victim said he didnt notice it was stolen until the morning after he went to Walmart. After the victim canceled his credit card, he checked his CarolinaCard balance online and realized that eight charges totaling $9.90, some of which were made on the fifth floor of Thomas Cooper Library.  The victims card was deactivated shortly after.

A green and blue Mongoose mountain bike was stolen from the rack of Columbia Hall in the early morning hours of May 31. An officer picked up a man dressed in all black on Gregg Street who was carrying a bicycle that matched the description. Upon further investigation, the man was also trespassing on USC property. The man was charged with Larceny of Bicycle and Trespass After Notice.
