Brief: Association of African American Students advocates self-love

USC’s Association of African American Students advocated self-love by handing out lollipops attached to inspirational self-esteem quotes at the Russell House Patio on Monday.

The event was organized and run by the Freshman Council of AAAS in coordination with Healthy Carolina and the American Heart Association.

“It’s mainly about loving yourself," Regan Sadler, first-year pharmacy student and Freshman Council member, said. "We're in the month of February, so we just want people to love themselves and understand self-love.”

AAAS is a student-run organization with about 75 active members. Freshman Council is one of the eight committees offered by the organization that works with the organization’s executive board. The organization seeks to create a united community among African-American students on campus.

On Tuesday evening, AAAS will host an event called "Love Games" in the Russell House Theater at 6 p.m.
