Men's basketball Cobb, Gregory charged by Columbia Police Department

Gamecock basketball freshmen Eric Cobb and Jamall Gregory were arrested Thursday morning, according to the Columbia Police Department.

Cobb has been accused of shooting a BB pellet gun at an occupied vehicle on Blossom Street on March 9. He will be charged with malicious injury to private property and third-degree assault and battery.

Gregory was seen using a BB pellet gun to damage three cars on Laurens Street on March 9, and he has also been accused of using a BB pellet gun to shoot a building on Park Street on March 6. He will be charged with one count of malicious injury to real property, and three counts of malicious injury to personal property.

Both were booked in Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center, but were released after paying $2,130 fines.

The two, along with fellow freshmen Chris Silva and TeMarcus Blanton and sophomore Marcus Stroman, were suspended for South Carolina's NIT game against High Point. No charges have been issued to Silva, Blanton or Stroman, yet all five are still listed as suspended indefinitely.

Gregory played in 20 games this year, averaging under two points a game. Cobb averaged a little over six minutes a game, but only averaged one point.
