Exclusive! Listen to ‘Rise & Brine,’ a playlist by Patricia Pastides

“Every morning I wake up, brush my eyebrows out, have a cup of coffee with Harris, then get to picklin’,” Patricia Pastides said to me as we pruned gardenias in her greenhouse and chatted about her passions. Patricia, an avid pickler and gardener, curated a playlist that she describes as “the quintessential pickling and brining songs of the Southeast.”

There are many types of pickling, from cucumbers and okra to cantaloupe and meatballs, and our illustrious First Lady is an expert at all of them. While it will take years to reach the level of skill Mrs. Pastides has, her playlist and bi-weekly pickling workshop (Thursdays at 1:45 on the Horseshoe) are a great place to start.
