The Gamecocks matched up with the Missouri Tigers on Oct. 29, 2022. With the game falling on Halloween weekend, many fans came to the game dressed in their Halloween costumes, hoping their Halloween and school spirit would help them win a sixth game for the season. Missouri started out strong, and overcame South Carolina's defense, beating them 23 to 10.
Several club and college sports teams are often overlooked by fans amid the hype surrounding sports like football and basketball. While waving rally towels around in Williams-Brice Stadium or cheering on our top-ranking women’s basketball team may be a must for South Carolina sports fans, attendance is on the rise for smaller production sports like Cock Hockey. With a highly competitive club sport like Cock Hockey and a variety of collegiate sports teams like South Carolina’s tennis, swim and dive and track teams, the university offers a large variety of entertaining matches and tournaments that sports fans can root for all winter long.
USC Greek fraternities and sororities all came together to participate in the Trick or Treat with the Greeks Halloween event on Oct. 25, 2022. The Daily Gamecock staff members combed through more than 1,400 work orders, contacted more than 100 people and interviewed more than 20 students about their experiences with mold in their dorms. The result? Hundreds of students documented finding and getting sick from mold in their dorms
The South Carolina State Fair is a 12-day event hosted by the State Agricultural and Mechanical Society of South Carolina. The fair features a variety of rides, games and food for patrons to enjoy. USC's Department of Theatre and Dance held an outside edition of Shakespearean play "A Midsummer Night's Dream" to a crowd across from Russel House in Columbia, S.C. on Oct. 9, 2022. This comedy consists of five interconnecting plots, connected by the marriage of characters Duke Theseus of Athens and Amazonian Queen Hippolyta. The play, previously performed by USC Theatre and Dance in March 2021, was brought back for a second installation this year in the department's newest outdoor venue located near the Horseshoe on their new Shakespeare Festival Stage.
