The USC Career Center will hold the S.E.T. Fair and the Career Fest at the Columbia Metropolitan Convention Center on Wednesday from noon to 4 p.m. At the event, students will have the opportunity to meet potential employers and discuss intern, co-op or full-time positions.

When Marcus Lattimore suffered his second knee injury in two years in 2012 and subsequently declared for the NFL draft, everyone knew sooner or later he’d be back in Columbia making an impact. In 2015, Lattimore made his way back — not to the football field, but rather off the field to the 38th annual Sigma Nu Game Ball Run.

Dog lovers from all over campus met near Davis Field on Tuesday to pet a service puppy from Palmetto Animal Assisted Life Services (PAALS), the service dog training organization. The organization is located in Columbia and has been training service dogs for nine years.

Etgar Keret spoke Tuesday night in the Hollings Program Room in the Thomas Cooper Library for USC’s third series fall literary festival. Keret is a well-known Jewish storyteller and writer, famous for his short stories, films, children’s books and sequential art.

To aid in the push for LGBTQ acceptance and love, South Carolina Pride is hosting the 26th annual Pride Parade down Main and Gervais streets on Oct. 24 at noon. The aim of the parade according to the organization's website is to "help us support, celebrate, educate, and advocate for the LGBTQ community of South Carolina.”

flood waters in and around Columbia continue to recede, both the campus and the
city have begun the process of recovery. With the state preparing to enter day 13 of state
emergency operations, the South Carolina Emergency Response Team has lowered
their operational status from OPCON 1 to OPCON 3. OPCON 3 is the third lowest of the
five possible operation levels, according to The State.

Last week was historical for the University of South
Carolina. Due to local flooding and contaminated water in the pipe systems, the
Richland County government decided to cancel all classes last week. This has
caused professors to alter syllabi and students to change their schedules in
order to stay on track with class work and assignments for the rest of the
semester.
