For third-year services management student Wade Jefferson, mental health is a deeply personal cause. Having lost friends to suicide during college, Jefferson said he felt a responsibility to break down the barriers around mental health discussion, and saw starting a club as the perfect opportunity to do so. Things started out small, but thanks to its "SpeakYourMIND" ice bucket challenge, USC MIND has gained a massive following.

Picture this: it is 3 a.m. A student sits at their desk, hunched over their laptop with several empty energy drink cans scattered around the room. The sun may be rising soon but their essay is almost finished. With an 8 a.m. class on the horizon, sleep isn’t on their schedule for the night. In the morning, they may feel tired and unmotivated. During class, all they can think about is how they can't wait to go back to their dorm and take a much needed nap.

As the 2024 season comes to a close, students may find themselves participating in the New Year's tradition of setting resolutions. Students should follow through with these resolutions for a well-rounded year that promotes positive mental and physical health.
