Arrest made in one on-campus crime, Pastides says

An arrest has been made in one of the three incidents involving armed subjects on campus in the last week, USC President Harris Pastides said in a release Monday.

As a result of the incidences, additional police presence — both undercover and uniformed — on campus will be upped starting this week, in an attempt to “deter crime and help keep [the] community safe.”

Pastides attributed the arrest to “quick actions of our community members,” working in cohesion with investigators, intelligence officers, Crime Stoppers and local agencies.

“We have been investing additional resources in the USC police department for new officers and equipment that will allow us to implement these enhanced services and operations,” the statement read.

Pastides also promised imminent details regarding new mobile technology to make communications with between the community and USCPD easier, to be released in the coming weeks.
