Update: Parks granted appeal in disqualification from SG election

Student body presidential candidate Michael Parks has been granted an appeal after having been disqualified from the election due to campaign violations.

Parks was granted standing by the Student Government Constitutional Council for one of the allegations against his campaign, the violation of university and campaign solicitation policy, according to constitutional council documents sent to The Daily Gamecock.

He was not granted standing on three other allegations he sought to appeal before the council, including charges of election fraud.

If the Council rules in Parks' favor, he would no longer be disqualified from the election.

The documents say that a period of discovery will last until "close of business Monday, February 22," wherein all information and possible witness names from both sides must be submitted to the council. A public hearing will then be scheduled.
