Eight hospitalized after crash on I-77

A serious accident on I-77 sent eight people to the hospital Tuesday morning, The State reports. The eight-car crash happened near the Shop Road exit on I-77 south in the middle of the morning rush hours. In addition to causing injuries, the incident closed all southbound lanes until almost 9 a.m.

Arrests made in shooting at Clemson off-campus housing

Two suspects are in custody after a shooting at a Clemson University off-campus student housing complex, WIS reports. Pickens Sheriff's Deputies charged 21-year-old Jackson Quaid Rowland with attempted murder and possession of a weapon during a violent crime and Daniel Heath Dixon with accessory after the fact. The victim, who is expected to survive, was reportedly shot in the head and neck area during a party at the Cottages at Clemson.

Strengthening tropical depression threatening SC coast

Tropical Depression 9 is expected to become a tropical storm, WLTX reports. The system is entering into the Gulf of Mexico, an area that's prime for strengthening. No coastal watches or warnings have been issued yet, but the system is expected to hit Florida and could bring heavy rain to South Carolina's coast.
