RHA president resigns

Residence Hall Association President Turner Johnson has resigned his post, effective midnight Tuesday. In his resignation letter sent out about 4 p.m. that day, Johnson said that his resignation was due to a violation of the university's credit requirements for holding the position.

This semester has been a tumultuous one for the organization, with controversy over constitutional changes and questions of executive power. Johnson was instrumental in offering RHA funding that made affording 21 Savage to Cockstock affordable. He faced criticism from many other members of the 10 person executive board throughout his months as president for what was frequently perceived as executive overreach.

"I encourage all of you to continue to collaborate and bring positive change to the organization and to continuously work to build a more perfect government in the name of each on-campus Carolinian," Johnson wrote in the statement.

Acting President Sam Payseur said that he was focusing on getting elections ready next semester and getting the spring off to a quick start.
