Red Hot Chili Peppers to play Colonial Life Arena

Columbia stop one of six in first leg of North American tour

Rock band Red Hot Chili Peppers will play its first show at Colonial Life Arena on Jan. 28, according to a Monday announcement from the arena.

The show, one of six announced Monday, will be the third in the North American leg of the band's "I'm with You" tour. The Columbia stop is the only one in the Palmetto State and one of four in the Carolinas — the others are Time Warner Cable Arena in Charlotte, N.C., on Jan. 25; RBC Center in Raleigh, N.C., on Jan. 27; and Greensboro Coliseum in Greensboro, N.C., on Jan. 31.

Philadelphia-born singer Santigold will open for the renowned rock band as it returns to the U.S. from a streak of shows in Germany, Austria, Italy, Switzerland and Spain and continues to promote its 10th studio album, "I'm with You."

Tickets go on sale on Saturday, Dec. 3 at 10 a.m. and can be purchased from the Colonial Life Arena box office. Ticket prices are $37.50 and $57.50, depending on sections in the arena, according to the Colonial Life Arena's website. No student discounts will be offered for the concert, according to a Live Nation spokeswoman.
