Obama's mistakes will cost him 2012 election

Bipartisan campaign won't work for president this time

But this election will require talented speech writers and some pleading by the Obama camp to convince Americans that the last four years weren't that terrible.
Through the gridlock in Congress over the debt ceiling debacle, soaring unemployment rates and unprecedented spending, the shiny exterior of the Obama administration has worn off.

The widespread disappointment among both parties has caused Obama to lose millions of dollars in support from former donors in Democratic districts, according to Time Magazine. Time also reported former Obama supporters have given money to GOP candidates like Mitt Romney.

Bipartisan support is crucial for Obama. Swing voters are not likely to be wooed simply by charisma and rhetoric this time. Americans heard the president's promises that the health care bill would lower insurance costs, but the costs are rising faster as insurance providers are bracing for future regulations.

Democratic enthusiasm has waned. Obama supporters realize their candidate has not led forcefully enough and worked harder at job creation. The ardent push for a bipartisan political climate that helped Obama get elected in 2008 no longer exists, and he won't be able to rely on moderate voters for the support that he needs to win in 2012.
