The Daily Gamecock

USC Provost recognizes TDG seniors

I also respected their efforts and trusted that their single source of motivation was their desire to improve the University of South Carolina.

As a student at the University of Wisconsin, I was involved in the leadership of a student organization.

I know the enormous amount of time and effort it takes from the leaders of such organizations to put together a successful group, and I suspect our student newspaper is just as demanding.

In the case of The Daily Gamecock seniors, the training they received in covering the university has helped them become better journalists and much more attractive candidates in the job market.

Leadership is not about social or financial backgrounds, looks and popularity. Leadership is about participation, service, values and vision.

Our Daily Gamecock senior leaders — including Josh, Ryan and Sports Editor James Kratch, among others — have devoted a significant percentage of their student life to this newspaper, served with conviction and articulated their ideas and vision.

Their passion in making the student perspective known and the student voice heard on campus is helping us make this a better university.
They have earned our respect and our gratitude.
