Two pedestrians injured in hit and run at intersection of Greene, Harden streets

Update: Suspect Justin McGlamry arrested, charged

UPDATE: An update from police representative Jennifer Timmons named 21-year-old Lexington resident Justin McGlamry as the suspect. He was arrested late Friday night and charged with two counts of "hit and run" personal injury and one count of disregarding a traffic signal, according to Timmons. He is a former Midlands Technical College engineering student, according to his Facebook page.

Two pedestrians were injured in a hit and run early Friday morning in the Five Points district, according to a news release provided by the Columbia Police Department.

At approximately 3 a.m., two victims were lawfully crossing the street at the intersection of Greene and Harden streets when a 2000 or later model red Camaro hit them, according to witnesses cited in the release. The driver, who witnesses were unable to describe, continued without stopping to help the victims and was last seen driving north on Harden Street.

Police have security surveillance video of the incident and believe there may have been damage to the front driver's side of the car and the windshield.

The female victim suffered a serious leg injury and was taken to a local hospital for surgery, but is now in stable condition. The male victim suffered minor injuries and was treated and released from the hospital.

No information was available on whether the victims were students.
