The admissions process has come full circle for one USC alumna.

Mary Tileston Wagner, who received her bachelor's degree in retailing and her master's degree in higher education administration from USC, has been named director of undergraduate admissions. Previously the senior associate director of admissions, Wagner replaces Scott Verzyl, who has assumed the role of associate vice president for enrollment management and executive director of admissions.

Wagner has worked at USC since 2006, beginning as associate director for operations and technology. She will use her experience in the technology field to implement the admissions-related portion of OneCarolina, an overhaul of the administrative computing systems.

Before joining USC's admissions staff, Wagner gained experience in college admissions as the director of admissions for two years and the director of enrollment management and institutional research at Louisiana College. Prior to that, she was employed as the assistant director for operations at North Georgia College and State University.

During her time as an undergraduate at USC, Wagner was named to the Phi Beta Kappa honors society and awarded the Algernon Sydney Sullivan Award for "nobility of character and dedication to service."

Wagner assumed the role of director of undergraduate admissions on Sept. 1.
