Police: Two men try to rob man, woman at gunpoint shortly before 1 am

A victim is in stable condition following an early morning attempted murder and attempted armed robbery in the Vista.

Shortly before 1 a.m. Saturday, two men approached a man and a woman who had just gotten in their car on Lincoln Street, near its intersection with Gervais Street, according to police.

One of the suspects opened the driver’s side door and demanded the victims’ belongings. A victim got out of the car and tried to fight him, and the second suspect punched him or her in the face, according to a release.

Shortly thereafter, the victim was shot and injured. According to the release, the victim is in stable condition at an area hospital as of Saturday evening.

Police described the two suspects as black men wearing dark pants, jackets and shoes. One man was wearing a black cap with ear covers; the other was wearing a similar hat in red-and-black plaid, according to the release.

They arrived and left the scene in a car investigators think was a dark-colored Dodge Avenger from model years 2010 to 2012. The left front tire might be a spare tire or missing a hub cap, according to police.
