Chase Loveless, a fourth-year political science student, died Wednesday night, according to Richland County Coroner Gary Watts.
“Chase’s passing is a tragic loss for his family, his friends, and for his USC community, as well,” USC President Harris Pastides said in an email. “I called his family to express the university’s deep sympathy and to let them know that we stand by them in their time of need. Let’s all remember the fragile nature of life and take care of ourselves and each other as best as we can.”
The coroner’s office does not suspect foul play in Loveless’ death and said it will take a few weeks to determine the cause of death.
