RHA votes to install new water fountains

The Residence Hall Association voted on Tuesday to use a total of $9,306 from its renovations fund to make improvements to seven residence halls.

RHA voted to spend $7,920 to install purified water fountains, which will be installed in South Tower, South Quadrangle, Preston College, Patterson Hall, West Quadrangle and Capstone House by the end of the semester. Senators earlier in the year passed a resolution saying they would work toward the goal of installing water bottle refill stations.

The association also voted to spend $1,386 on gym improvements in Columbia Hall, including buying gym wipes, a kettle ball set, power rack, Olympic curl bar, two in-spring collars, dumbbells and a speaker system.

Many senators supported the allocation because Columbia Hall is a healthy living community and it is across campus from the Strom Thurmond Wellness and Fitness Center and Blatt P.E. Center.

Before RHA passed the spending bills, there was $19,000 left in the renovations fund.
