USCPD unsuccessful in search for another armed robbery suspect

The University of South Carolina police department was unable to locate a suspect in an armed robbery that took place near campus at Main and Whaley Streets at 3:30 a.m. early Tuesday morning.

The suspect demanded money from and assaulted the victim with a baseball bat, according to the .

The suspect is described as a black male. He was reported to be wearing all black clothing with a black knit hat and carrying a bat. The victim was treated by medical personnel.

The police searched the vicinity, and sent a second Carolina Alert at 4:51 a.m. to report that the suspect was no longer in the area.

An original Carolina Alert was issued at 4:21 a.m., calling attention to the armed robbery and urging the campus community to “use caution.”
