USC plans new housing in south of campus

The University of South Carolina plans to construct new student housing in the south portion of campus, The State reported.

USC is working with a private developer and would likely put up little or no money up front for the project, according to university spokesman Wes Hickman. The plans call for tearing down Bates House, Bates West, Cliff Apartments and Carolina Gardens. These would be kept open until replacement housing is complete.

The project’s first phase, which will contain 1,500 beds, will be available by July 2018. The entire project will take about 10 years to complete.http://www.thestate.com/news/local/education/article37232841.html
